If anyone needs me, I'm pulling an all nighter (ew) at a computer (double ew) in Kane Hall's basement.

| Spontaneous Field Trip |
[Apr. 10th, 2008|09:41 pm] |
It was decided just now (I mean, five minutes ago type now) that myself, several other Earth and Space Sciences students, and Professor Stone will be climbing into some vans and heading out to an unnamed island tomorrow.
It is unclear how we intend to cross the water as of yet.
We will then take samples for several hours, take some measurements, and bring things back for the labs.
I am also unclear how we will get our samples (which is another word for ROCKS) back across the water mentioned previously.
Regardless, I will probably be out of touch tomorrow. Now you know why. |

Hey, who's always wanted to see "Sweet Home Alabama" performed by a Finnish rock band backed by the Red Army Choir of Russia? I know I have!
...No, seriously.

There's probably a few people on the old f-list who will interested in this.
Apparently, during the writer's strike, Joss Whedon wrote a musical. For exclusive release on the internet, in ten minute episodes.
Nathen Fillion is set as one of the stars.

| Day 8,962 |
[Mar. 24th, 2008|09:29 pm] |
Things accomplished:
10.2 hour shift at work. Read a couple chapters. Did two loads of wash, and put away same. Some weekend planning. Random game tidbits. Finished registering for the quarter. Other random cleaning. |

Alright, creative types. I need to come up with a name for a environmental consulting agency that specializes in drilling wells and removing contaminants.
Best name gets 2000 points from me! |

| A Small Tribute |
[Mar. 4th, 2008|04:48 pm] |
The guys over at Penny-Arcade have heard about Gary's passing as well. They've offered up a memorial image over on their site, even though Tuesday isn't one of their traditional update days. I know a lot of you read PA, but I figured I'd point it out, since most folks probably wouldn't think to check them on a Tuesday.
...It's pretty appropriate.

Today's Penny-Arcade describes me in ways that are wholly accurate and kinda depressing. |

| A/V Superhero |
[Jan. 31st, 2008|08:53 pm] |
As I sit up here in my booth, indulging in my mild mannered alter ego, I like to take stock.
University President Emmert, Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels, Senator Phil Rockefeller, State Representative Fred Jarrett, King County Executive Ron Sims, and NPR host Steve Sher are all sitting down on my stage, chatting and answering questions from a thousand person audience. Every seat is filled, they're being filmed and projected to another room in the building with another 300 people, and they're being watched by innumerable more on the webcast that we put together.
And none of them have any idea that there was a huge leak that caused the stage to warp in a few places. None of them know about the asbestos scare we had today. None of them know about the incompetence and lack of organization I had to overcome to make this thing work.
Through hours of constant, frantic work, I got everything wrapped up 30 seconds before they walked out on stage, and they're never going to know that I am a superhero.
But that is how secret identities work.
Edit: Standing ovation! Wooo! |

| Kyoko and Gunnar |
[Jan. 22nd, 2008|04:33 pm] |
The mentioned but not posted Kyoko and Gunnar fic makes it's first public appearance today! Not to be missed!
Please note that during this scene, Gunnar was on anti-psychotic drugs, something neither Kyoko nor her player knew. Written by me and amheriksha.

I have 4 pounds of Jelly Bellies.
I have 1575 Jelly Bellies.
I have 6300 calories of Jelly Bellies.
I have 45 servings of Jelly Bellies.
1.814 kilos!
64 OUNCES!
I HAVE THE JELLY BEANS OF THE GODS!
*Nom nom nom nom*
I now have... 3.5 pounds of Jelly Bellies?
I spent 14.5 hours on campus today, all of that either at work or in lab.
Also, superhappy drew me Spider-Man fan art that was (possibly unintentionally) perfect. He is producing some other amusing fan art right now, but a significant amount isn't safe for work, so watch it if you click. |

I got up at three thirty in a house I'd never been to before, fought through the dark, drove through fresh piles of snow long before the plows got out, got through the valley and up the hill, overcame an hour long flight delay for a one hour flight, and made it home on the buses.
I also drank a cup of Spokane coffee.
But I'm back. |

| More Warmakers Fic |
[Dec. 23rd, 2007|11:10 am] |
More fic for Warmakers, irishninja's always excellent anime style d20 home brew. If you aren't familiar with it, this... probably won't make much sense. Also, while this piece probably doesn't contain any surprises if you've heard me run combat, I'm going to put up a warning for explicit violence.
About 900 words, written in a single messy draft this morning. I may clean it up later.

Mountain still beautiful. Birds and other animals still follow Dad around the yard. Guns are still everywhere (I found a SHOTGUN under the mattress when I was making my parents' bed. Also, a rifle under the bed). Got another few inches of snow this morning. There is always more shoveling to do. And more wood to bring in. And more chocolate to eat.
God. So much chocolate.
I've organized some of the old Curlew Crew to meet up tomorrow, so I expect I'll have some stories come Christmas.
I'm currently listening to Mozart's 'Magic Flute' performed on marimba. Awesome.
I miss gaming with you people, which is sad, since we played less than a week ago. I guess that means I should go write the next adventure. Watch your e-mails. |
